The TRIM SQL Function in MySQL and MariaDB - Remove spaces or characters

TRIMSyntax:TRIM([[Type] [Delete character] FROM] String)
Return value:CHAR
Function type:String function
Function Description

The TRIM() function removes spaces or a defined "Delete character" from the beginning and/or end of a "String".

The optional parameter "Type" can have the following values: BOTH, LEADING or TRAILING.

If "Type" is not specified, BOTH is the default and the "Delete character" or spaces are removed from the beginning and the end of the "String".

If "Delete character" is not specified, spaces will be removed.

If the value of "String" is NULL, the TRIM() function returns NULL.

How to use the TRIM() function in MySQL and MariaDB databases

In MySQL and MariaDB the TRIM() function is used to remove leading and trailing spaces, or other specified characters, from a string. This allows strings to be cleaned up by removing unnecessary spaces or specific characters at the beginning and end. The TRIM() function is often used to clean data, normalize input, or remove unnecessary characters before performing comparisons or storing data.
