The REPLACE SQL Function in MySQL and MariaDB - Search and replace |
|
| REPLACE | Syntax: | REPLACE(String, Search, Replace) | Return value: | CHAR | Function type: | String function | |
| | The REPLACE() function returns the "String" with all occurrences of the string "Search" being replaced with the string "Replace".
REPLACE() is case sensitive.
If the "String" and "Replace" arguments contain different charsets, the result is returned in the "larger" character set.
If the "Search" argument is empty, no replacement is made.
If either argument is NULL, the REPLACE() function returns NULL. | SQL Examples for the REPLACE function |

| The examples were created with the MyWAY SQL manager: | How to use the REPLACE() function in MySQL and MariaDB databases | In MySQL and MariaDB, the REPLACE() function is used to return all occurrences of a substring within a string to be replaced with a specified replacement string. The function is useful when you need to find and replace specific substrings within a string. The function can be used for tasks such as manipulating data, performing string transformations, or normalizing data values. | | Further MySQL und MariaDB SQL String functions | CHAR | CHAR(Character code, [, Charset]) | More about CHAR Function |
