The MONTH SQL Function in MySQL and MariaDB - Month from date

MONTH	Syntax:	MONTH(Date)
	Return value:	INTEGER
	Function type:	Date and Time function

Function Description

The MONTH() function returns the month of "Date" in the range 1 to 12.

The "Date" argument must be of type DATE or DATETIME.

For invalid dates like 0000-00-00 that have a 00 month part, the function returns 0.

If the value for "Date" is invalid or NULL, the MONTH() function returns NULL.

How to use the MONTH() function in MySQL and MariaDB databases

In MySQL and MariaDB, the MONTH() function extracts the month part from a given "Date" or "Date and Time" expression and returns an integer value from 1 to 12 representing the month of the year. Column names of tables or other expressions can also be used as parameters to be able to retrieve or edit the month component of a date or to be able to work with specific months in SQL queries, SQL scripts or other date-based operations in the database, for example to sort query results by months.
